The Powerful Prescription series

This is a YouTube playlist (part of Kaiser Permanente’s channel) that includes a series of three “Powerful Prescription” animations: Human Connection, Pets, and Nature.

Background: The overarching goal was to position KP as an organization that cares about individuals, families, and communities; as a group of healthcare professionals who want to help consumers solve their health, well-being, and lifestyle problems. We created these videos for KP’s social media channels. We also published them on KP’s public-facing page, which included a brief supporting article.

Our initial video on the benefits of human connection started out as a one-off — something fun to share with our followers the week of Valentine’s Day. It was such a hit, we jumped into gear producing one for May’s National Pet Month. Then, fascinated for years by the concept of "forest bathing," I pitched the nature theme for a video promoting getting out during the summer months.

My role: I served as producer/project manager — pitching the concept, drafting the creative brief, conducting research, working with our subject matter expert (a physician) on all the content leveraged, writing the copy and promotional material, managing stakeholder engagement and approvals, and serving as creative consultant and partner to our graphic designer.

Jacob’s story

Background: Kaiser Permanente Care Stories are first-person video narratives from patients, physicians and staff, that illustrate Kaiser Permanente’s dedication to total health.

My role: While I assisted in filming interviews with the medical team, I primarily served in a supervisory and advisory capacity to a junior member of our team on this project. This video, in particular, had many moving parts, and she expertly learned the ins and outs of video production. Importantly, her genuine rapport with Jacob’s family made for a heartfelt and effective video.
